Waking in Style – Alarm Clocks

ASPREY-clockLarge Clic Clac Clock by Asprey

John overslept for work again this morning (tisk, tisk) and I’ve come to the conclusion we need ditch our iPhone alarms for a proper alarm clock.  There are so many to choose from!  Here are some of my favorites (some more realistic in price than others!):

J.Crew — Behind the Scenes, Paris

Do you remember the incredible J.Crew shots from Paris back in Fall 2007 (see below)?  Well I just came across the sweetest little film short  with behind the scenes footage of the unforgettable shoot!  It’s even set to a fun French tune!  It certainly isn’t their “latest photo shoot” anymore, but I just had to share it.  I’m on such a wistful Paris kick recently—this certainly isn’t helping soothe my wanderlust.  I might just have to do something about it…  Enjoy the film!

Avedon Lunches in Paris, 1948

Picture 153

I just stumbled across this photo snapped by the late, great Richard Avedon and it instantly became one of my all time favorites!  How have I not seen it before?  Taken at Paris’ Cafe Flore in 1948, it reminds me of two hopelessly chic female detectives—think Nancy Drew comparing clues over lunch whilst donning Schiaparelli.  The models, Elise Daniels and Monique, seem the best of friends as the lean in intimately sharing the latest bit of gossip.  It reminds me of my boarding school and college girlfriends whom I miss dearly—to them I dedicate this glimpse though Avedon’s lens.

C.H.A.R.M.-ed, I’m Sure

I’ve been lusting after the reproduction and vintage trinkets at C.H.A.R.M. for years now and hope to someday start a bracelet of my own.  Founded by mother-daughter-duo Leslie Slutsky and Lisa Slutsky Feldkamp, the company now owns the largest collection of vintage charms in the United States.  I love that the bracelets are not just your average piece of jewelry, but are something one builds upon, expanding over time.  Each charm holds a different significance — I can picture passing it on to my future daughter or granddaughter, explaining the memories attached to each…  Below are some of my very favorites available on the site today.  Which would you choose?
