John and I are off to California! First stop my hometown, San Luis Obispo, on the beautiful central coast. The photo above is of the area’s grape-rich Edna Valley. I found the image on the National Geographic website and it just happens to be of the vineyards across the road from my Grandmother Rita’s house. Yes, she has quite the view. I’ll be snapping photos of her incredibly chic home to share with you (Tony Duquette wings and all)—something to look forward to next week! We’ll also be traveling up the coast through Big Sur, Carmel, Monterey, Berkeley and San Francisco, but more on that later. Until then, have a fantastic weekend my dears!

How fantastic is this brass lion door knocker by Williams Sonoma Home? I not only want the lion, but also the red door to go with it! Cast in solid brass and then hand patinated for an antiqued matte finish, the weighty door knocker is made in Italy. It reminds me of all the quaint townhouses in London and Dublin and so forth with their bright colored doors and fanciful knockers. A taste of old world charm on a reasonable budget!

Okay, I know, you’re sick and tired of my babbling on about the debut of the Kate Spade clothing line, BUT just one (or three…) more thing! Aren’t these three pieces bound to be classics? I even adore how simply they photographed the clothing and their inclusion of the little text bubbles. You can always count on Kate Spade for great design direction from the little details on the handbags (and now clothes) to the eclectic mix of typography on the site. Okay, really, I’ll stop, but you should really check it all out HERE.

These photos published by Veranda magazine of the Loro Piana showroom in the D&D made me swoon. Just look—even the fabric wings are hung on beautifully branded leather loops! Though Loro Piana Interiors was officially launched in 2006 the showroom only opened in New York last fall. The Loro Piana family has been making their luxurious fabrics for over six generations and has established a reputation for the finest materials in the world, the fibers hailing from three continents. The interiors collection includes such extravagances as 100% cashmere carpeting, can you even imagine? The fabric line also includes the Italian company’s trademark cashmere as well as wool, silk, linen, cotton, and leather. I saw the fabrics used in a project I worked on in New York and they truly are just as luxurious as the company’s clothing. Next time I’m back in Manhattan I think I may have to swing by for a glimpse of the fall showroom in all its aubergine glory.
