What are you doing this weekend?
October 23, 2009Hello lovelies! Aren’t you happy it’s Friday? Tomorrow John and I are going to see Where the Wild Things Are—I can’t wait! I also want to go to a pumpkin patch so I can come home and carve this pug pumpkin. Oh and my Missing Manhattan post has me in the mood to spruce up my current Appalachian abode. It is in dire need of a little TLC! Lastly, we went out for Kenyan food yesterday—have you ever had it? My chicken stew and chapati were scrumptious! If you have any Kenyan restaurants nearby you must try it.
What are your fabulous autumn weekend plans? Scarecrows? Hay rides? Pumpkins? Can’t wait to hear!

P.S. Did you scroll down to read today’s “quote of the day” by Colette? I think it may be my new life motto!

We carved pumpkins on Tuesday! I hadn’t done it in years. This weekend is Virginia PowerShift. It’s the environmental summit I’ve been helping to plan for a month and a half. I should really call it the light at the end of a very long tunnel.

Oh, I envy you. I have been dying to do two things: go to the pumpkin patch and see Where the Wild Things Are and you have plans to do them both. I hope you have an amazing weekend, darling! I’m not sure what I’ll be up to yet – perhaps a little shopping is in order! :)

My boyfriend and I are heading over to Circleville’s annual pumpkin festival (pumpkin donuts!! yum!) and then are going to carve some pumpkins. I’ve got a hankering for pumpkin seeds. I think I’ll also be working at the letterpress studio I’ve been interning at… we’ve been trying to get all our holiday cards printed. I’m just crossing my fingers the rain stops and we get a bit of sunshine…
(Also, I WISH there was a kenyan food restaurant around here… I’ll have to google it…)

Glad I could pump some enthusiasm into your autumn days. You never know there might be a pumpkin patch- it will make your research fun! The hubby and I are going this weekend to pick one up- can’t wait to carve the pumpkins! I want to also go to the corn maze nearby our house- fall has so many neat activities. Yay! ~Johanna

Sounds like a great weekend. Don’t you love the fall? I am going to a haunted corn maze this weekend. I love corn mazes and everything about the fall, too bad it turns into winter. Utah winters are no bueno.

We’re hoping to catch Where the Wild Things are too! :D SO. EXCITED.

I’m going to go see Where the Wild Things Are tonight- I’m so excited! I’m also spending another weekend at my parents’ house. So so nice, because it’s at least 10 degrees warmer where they live than where I live.

Have to go to the pumpkin patch!!! Let us know how the movie turned out – it’s my favorite childrens book!

Thank you for stopping by on my blog! -
Hi Kate,
Thanks so much for stopping by my blog! So very happy I have now found yours… the internet is definitely my happy place right now.
I’m sprucing up my flat this weekend too, as it happens… and I think tomorrow I might head to the V&A (….my other happy place).
Well now, I have never had Kenyan food but I went out for Ethiopian food once, when I was in Geneva(!). It was all served on top of this delicious, slightly tangy flatbread, and you tore off the edge bits of the bread and scooped up your stew with that. The middle bit of bread, where the stew had been, was best of all. And no cutlery! So different, I loved it.

PS That film looks wonderful, you must report back. So many things I’d love to see right now… -
Everyone sounds like they are having wonderful fall weekends. Its still in the 80′s here in Arizona and I wish I could catch the fall bug everyone’s fb statuses are all about. I’m working in the art gallery on Saturday and doing a triathlon on Sunday! I think I might jump on the Where the Wild Things are bandwagon and make my boyfriend take me after the race. Enjoy fall everyone!

Carving pumpkins is not something we know how to do in Australia, but it sounds like fun. Thanks so much for dropping by Beach Vintage and leaving a comment.
