Darryl Carter’s D.C. Townhouse

I’m in the process of moving into a new apartment and have been drooling over these images of Darryl Carter’s D.C. townhouse as inspiration.  While I love color and even a tad of clutter, something about his clean, neutral aesthetic really appeals to me these days.  I love that the pieces in Carter’s rooms don’t compete with one another, but simply contain an understated elegance that when combined make for a grand statement.  His array of rich natural materials has such a lovely organic feel and inject the bright white rooms with such warmth.  My favorite room of the Beaux Arts townhouse is the bathroom with a pair of bathtubs salvaged from the Russian embassy—I guess there are perks to living on Embassy Row!  Read more about the townhouse in Elle Decor >>>
