It is with great excitement that I introduce to you my latest project, “Katie Armour Home.”  My new online vintage shop is brimming with traditional-with-a-twist finds.  As you all know I’m a big fan of flea markets, estate sales and antique shops.  Well, over the past year or so I have amassed quite the collection and now I’d like to spread the love.  In the “Katie Armour” Etsy shop you will everything from vintage brass figurines to Vera table linens.  Every item caught my eye for one special reason or another.  I buy what I love and I hope you love it too!  I chose “Katie” because it’s what my darling, supportive family often calls me and “Armour” (soon to be my last name) because I couldn’t have done this without my partner in crime, John.  Besides, did you know Kate Spade wasn’t yet “Spade” when she and her now hubby, Andy, launched their little handbag collection?  Below is a selection of items featured in the shop.  I take great care to include small styled vignettes to help you visualize.  There are forty items currently listed, but I have twice that still waiting for their moment in the limelight.  I’ll be adding items all weekend…we’re expecting up to 16 inches of snow!

UPDATE: People have asked about using images from the shop on their own blog—of course you may!  Spread the Katie Armour Home love!  I’m touched and overwhelmed by your support.  I have the BEST blogging friends a girl could ask for!  XO

THE GIVEAWAY

To kick things off on the right foot I will be giving away one of my all time favorite finds, the brass pineapple below.  As you know the pineapple is a symbol of hospitality and one of the most classic motifs found in the home.  This pineapple opens up to store any number of trinkets—matches, jewelry, or perhaps some pretty paperclips for your desk.  It’s handsome and weighty and I’ll be oh-so-pleased to send it off to a happy home.  To enter simply link over to Katie Armour Home, decide your favorite item and leave a comment on this post telling me what it is!  I’m desperate for your feedback—my goal is to fill the shop with all your favorite things.  Oh and you don’t have to be a blogger to comment or enter—everyone’s eligible.  Do drop me a line and tell me what you think!  Have a wonderful wintery weekend my loves!

XOXO Katie : )

P.S. I’ll be drawing a name at random on Monday at 5:00pm EST to be our winner!

  2. Awwww thank you Rikshaw! I truly appreciate your being so supportive and spreading the word!!! XO

  3. KateMcG says:

Your items are fabulous finds!! And I love the vignettes that accompany all of the items! Love the tortoise shell vase :)

  4. Thank you McGlynn!!!! Maybe you’ll win the pineapple…oh la la. XO

  5. Great collection. I would say my favorites are the brass horse head bookends and the knight letter opener.

    Congratulations!

  6. Ohhh I just adore the knight letter opener too (if I do say so myself…)! Thanks Modern-Traditionalist! Love positive feedback! XO

  7. Ashley says:

Congrats on the grand opening! Everything looks beautiful. It was tough, but I think my favorite is the lucite fishing fly paperweight. I’ve always thought fish flies look like the end product of a hummingbird/dragonfly mating.

  8. Amanda says:

Oh Kate! This is sooo awesome! I’m so excited and I’ll blog about it too! I especially love the milk glass. My grandmother has a lot of this and always gives me a piece for Christmas! I’ll be checking back over the weekend! xoxo

  9. Amanda — You are too sweet! I wish my grandmother gave me milk glass every Christmas — you must have a beautiful collection. I think milk glass is particularly lovely grouped together, you lucky gal!

Ashley — My fiance loves your fish flies “hummingbird/dragonfly mating” analogy. “So literary of her” he says. I adore that piece as well—I love that’s it’s unique and a bit unusual. Not something you see every day… Thanks for your kind feedback! XO

  10. Karen says:

Congrats on opening your shop! What an exciting adventure. I too love milk glass, so it was exciting to see a variety of options! That zebra is pretty cute too :)

  11. Jaclyn says:

Oooh what a great collection of things! Being a lover of all things water related I love the sail boats, they remind me of my of summers sailing lessons in San Francisco!

  12. Congratulations! You do have a great eye, sweetie! I love love love the pineapple! I covet, desire, etc…. on the page, you have some terrific finds! The sailboats are my hands down favorite. But there are a lot of close seconds – the horse bookends would be perfect for my little Kate – she’s my budding equestrienne!

I will definitely be posting about your shop – I assume it’s OK if I use a few of your photos?

Have a wonderful weekend and best of luck to you!

    xoxo,
    Stephanie

  13. Congratulations Kate! You have put together quite the divine selection! I think some of my favorites include the cloisonne trinket jar and the set of camels.

  14. Haydee says:

Kate! I’m so excited for you, and for me since you have such great taste;) I checked in and there is so much I like. The Vera Neumann napkins and vintage fluted milk glass vases really caught my eye! Your identity is clean and simple which I think is so great. I also like how you give a thoughtful description of each item. Very evident that you enjoy what you do. This will undoubtedly be a success. Congratulations a million times!

  15. I bought the tray. Had to. HAD to!!

    xoxo,
    Stephanie

  16. yay for your shop! i just went and checked it all out! beautiful. cant wait to send you your tea love. what is your fav flavor? oh, and i looked at your wedding collection. made me want to go back and do it all over again. I LOVE WEDDINGS! when is your big day?!

  17. Kat Mitchel says:

    Looks great!!! What wonderful curation!

Love the vintage fishing fly in lucite. My grandmother had a periwinkle shell in lucite that all the kids used to play with. We were always fascinated by how you could examine the shell from different angles. Plus it never scratched or broke ;)

  18. Holly says:

I LOVE the brass duck! It just has so much character…

  19. cathi says:

Congrats, Katie!!! Such fabulous items in your shop…I think my fave is the white bamboo vase – it’s so gorgeous! Happy weekend to you, stay warm! xxoo :)

I love your vintage milk glass clamshell dish…and I just may have to buy it!! Ok, I just bought it!! xo, Erin

  24. Brandi says:

Congrats Kate!! What a fantastic and awesome endeavor! I just LOVE it. My favorite piece is the Vintage Round Cloisonne Trinket Jar — which already sold!! I can’t wait to see what new things arrive — I’ll be watching closely.

  25. Jessie says:

Love the shop! Especially the ice bucket & milk glass items!

  26. Mary says:

My taste might be a little more eccentric than most BUT I love the vintage Boston Chinese tin. But bear in mind that I just love vintage containers and stools and suitcases, etc. (And I love the brass camels) Honestly, all of the items are such unique and fascinating pieces!

  27. Kelly Anne says:

You have such a great eye! I love all of the milk glass, but am going to have to go with the small brass sailboats as my fav. I love ‘em!

This looks great! I’m so excited for you!

  28. Stacie says:

    So lovely! Congratulations!

It was hard to choose a favorite but I especially love the William and Mary Trivet. The milk glass, bamboo planters and brass sailboats are also up there on my list.

  29. Bee says:

Wow! What a fantastic collection of STUFF! I don’t know how you part with it… It’s really impossible to say what my favourite is… I love the monogrammed glasses, because they are just so chic. Too bad I don’t know anyone with the initial ‘F’. The milk glass urn is also beautiful. I love anything milk glass. And the shape is classic and elegant. But then again I’m also rather partial to the marble horse book ends! This really is a lovely collection. Congratulations!

  30. Jen Vercelli says:

My favorite is the elephant with the baises candle, not on the etsy site yet. The tower of Pisa and the milk glass candle holders are my favorites from the new site. I love your blog and the new venture!

  31. Lauren says:

Everything is so beautiful and timeless. I absolutely love your collection. So many of the items remind me of something I would find in my grandmother’s belongings. She passed away a year ago today so I’m feeling quite nostalgic. She even owned a pear just like the one pictured above! From your little online boutique I think the Vintage Orange Vera Napkins are simply darling. Again… They remind me of one of my grandmother’s handkerchiefs. Of all of your items (those pictured above included) I have to admit, the pineapple is my favorite. Be expecting a purchase from me just as soon as I recover from my most recent purchase (a ticket to South America!!!).

  32. doxahome says:

Oh Kate, congratulations!!! Everything looks great, I especially love both the ice bucket and matchbox/ashtray set (not that I even smoke but they are so well appointed) as well as the woven basket. I will add your etsy store to my blogs list of favorite online sources. Nicely done love;)

    Best,
    Jaime

  33. I JUST WOKE UP TO 27 COMMENTS—OH MY! THANK YOU SO VERY MUCH EVERYONE FOR YOUR ENCOURAGING WORDS!!! I was a bit nervous to launch yesterday and and am absolutely overwhelmed by all the kind things you had to say. I feel so lucky to have “met” you all these past few months. I’m such a lucky girl! Those of you that asked about posting on your own blog—of course you may use these images (and there are a lot more in the shop!). Thank you again everyone—and if you’re back east, stay warm in this winter wonderland!!! XOXOXOXO
P.S. Can’t wait to put your names in a hat and pick a winner for the pineapple! You are all so deserving!

  34. Jenny says:

Wow! The shop looks great! I’m partial to the marble seahorse and the Vera napkins.

  35. Congratulations, Katie! Love the milk glass vases and the monogram trivet. The store looks great and will be my shopping spot for unusual gifts. Have a great weekend!

    This is wonderful! Congratulations!

  37. The Zhush says:

Wow! After seeing those snaps from your old apartment it was clear that you possess an amazing eye for design and style…this just confirms it! Let’s see, so many items are calling my name…love the little camels, the brass elephant (from the inspiration board photo? caught my eye there as well!) the fabulous mid-century red bowl and the marble sea horse! The sea horse might be my favorite. Best of luck with this new venture!

  38. Charlotte says:

    Katie,
How wonderful to turn something you love into something you can share with others. I love estate sales etc and dragged my boys around this summer to many. I am especially fond of the brass pieces as these are items I look for as well. I love the milk glass vases by themselves and also with flowers – the opaque quality hides all the messy stems. Finally, of course, the tortoise items – they go will everything. Good luck – you are inspiring.

  39. Molly says:

Great idea! Congratulations on all your hard work.

My favorite item is the vintage round tortoise glass vase… but since that’s reserved for savannah, my second favorite is the tall vintage brass sailboat!

  40. anita says:

love it!!! and i love the name (what a great last name you’ll be acquiring!)
the photos are fantastic — great job.

  42. anita says:

    oh — p.s.
my favorite item is the camel collection!! i love them!!

  43. Staley Mc says:

This is such a great little store! Congrats on your new adventure. I love a lot of things in the store but I really like the camel collection!!

  44. Alexandra says:

Congrats on opening the store! I hope it goes really well : )

  45. Lynn Byrne says:

    HI Katie,
Love the camels so much I bought them. A fabulous instant collection. I love flea markets and antique shopping myself, but I have never seen anything like these camels. Their small size, distinctive shape, plus mass impact make them a truly unique find.

Obviously, the camels were my favorite because I bought them, but I thought all of your items showed tremendous personality. Prices were good too. I only held back on buying more because I am heading to Vermont next week where I will be doing lots of my own hunting and gathering.

I am feeling a big success here for you! Good luck and I will mention it in an upcoming post. All the best, Lynn

  46. Fabulous!

I’m so happy for you – your new venture is going to be amazing. Your eye is excellent and I’m already loving so many things.

Definitely will give a shout out over on Prippy Handbook!

  47. Hi Lynn,
Can’t thank you enough! The camels are one of my favorite finds—I’ll be sad to part with them, but am happy they’ll be joining your surely beautiful home! Thanks for spreading the word about Katie Armour Home. Oh and have a fantastic time in Vermont! I love it up there! XO Katie

  48. Oh… and the marble sea horse is my favorite!

  49. oh my gosh! bigtime congratulations are in order. i can’t wait to stalk your new shop — i’m certain i’ll be including some of your offerings on my blog in the near future!

  50. Melanie says:

My favorite item is the vintage milk glass urn! It would be so lovely filled with bright flowers or even as part of a grouping. Your shop is wonderful!
