JCrew-Taryn-Wedding-Dress

John and I realized last night that if we’re really going to get married this summer it will now have to happen in July (law school begins in early August)—YIKES!  We also recently found out we’re probably moving back to the west coast.  So I have three months to find a location in California, pick a dress, and well, plan a wedding.  Do you think it can be done???  We’re keeping things extremely small and intimate so I’m keeping my fingers crossed.  I’m down to two dresses (thank god for affordable J.Crew options—we want to save for a house!), but I desperately need your help.  Which do you like best, the Whitney at top?  Or the Taryn at bottom (in ivory of course…)?  The wedding itself will be very casual, either in a small chapel somewhere or outdoors.  Please tell me your thoughts—it would be so appreciated! XO Katie

    I love the Whitney!

I wore a Vera Wang bridesmaid dress in ivory – it was simple perfection (and around $300 including alterations). Best part was that I got to go to the snooty store to buy it and got top notch service, even though I wasn’t buying one of the dresses that cost $$$

What beautiful dresses! I adore them both but personally prefer the Taryn – it’s so simple but the slight twist effect at the bodice is very stylish. Either would be absolutely lovely though, especially for a July wedding. And so you!

I vote for Taryn! Best wishes to you as you plan your special day–enjoy it!!

Are you dead set on those two new dresses? How can Ms. “Classics shaken and stirred” exclude vintage/previously worn dresses from consideration?? Marsha has one, not hers, she says is exquisite. Ask her about it. And California here we come sounds great to me!

i’m torn between both dresses for my wedding as well!!!!!!! my mom thinks the taryn will drag the boobage down? and i’ve seen some not so great reviews about the whitney. i can’t decide on which one to order!! :) in some pictures the bodice of the taryn dress looks kind of funny, but i think it depends on how you tie the sash? i’ve loved the taryn for as long as i can remember, so i’m thinking i should just go with it, just because. does anyone know about the size of the skirt? is it big enough to twirl in? or is it smaller?
