I’ve been pouring over floral designs for wedding inspiration and can’t help but gravitate towards peonies and english roses.  The pale blush varieties are my favorite, so soft and sweet.  There is something remarkably feminine about them that I just adore.

Do you have a favorite flower?  Any bouquet or centerpiece suggestions?  I’d love to hear! xo

Peonies are one of my favorite flowers (amongst sunflowers, daisies, and tulips). I think they would make a beautiful wedding bouquet!

  4. Thanks Lauren! I’m torn between peonies and just doing tons of wildflowers…I’ll know more once I talk to the florist about what will be in season in late July. I’m clueless when it comes to these things!

I love these two floral designers:

    1. Design by Aubrey in Huntington Beach at http://designbyaubrey.blogspot.com/

    2. Saipua in Brooklyn at http://www.saipua.com/flowers/

Check them out. I think you’ll love them both!

  18. Brooke says:

    Peonies are my favorite flower!

I like to put pink Peonies into these two incredible Turquoise vases I just bought.

There is a reason we are friends Katie Kate!

    love you

  19. Kirby says:

I die over peones! as for my wedding, I haven’t put too much thought into that yet. but in general… Peones top the charts!

  20. Marija says:

We used Peonies at our wedding in silver revere bowls (is that what they’re called?!). Still love that look almost 11 years later! One thing that bummed me out a bit is that we couldn’t get really pale pink peonies – they actually looked a little lavender. Something about June in Chicago? I don’t know. But I still loved them and in they end they looked beautiful and here is the key: timeless! Same goes for simple roses – my bouquet was pale and hot pink roses. Still looks good in the pics! Marija

  21. I think pale pink peonies for a summer wedding would be gorgeous, Kate. I love that you are sharing the details of your wedding with us.. so fun. It makes me verrry excited to plan my own wedding someday.
P.S. did you ever decide on the shoes?
    XOXO fallon

  22. Meagan says:

I love these flowers too. My florist told me that peonies are hard to come by in August in California so we’re going with some alternatives such as cabbage, juliet and fair bianca roses. All of these blooms come in blush as well. Pale pink is such a great color choice! I’m so excited to see what you end up doing :)

  23. Pretty, pretty peonies! One of my favorites, and I also adore hydrangeas (what I am using for my August wedding)!

  24. Jen says:

You can never go wrong with peonies, in my opinion. I also second the vote for ranunculus; they come in so many great colors. Also high on my list are green button mums; those were in a lot of my wedding flowers. They’re just a wee bit whimsical, which I think is great, especially if you pair them with more formal flowers. But you have to like green, of course! :]

  25. StylishBird says:

Peonies are one of my fav’s, but they are expensive and have a short season. I ended up doing white hydrangea and green cymbidium orchids for my wedding and it turned out really well. Wildflowers would be beautiful. I’m partial to that idea. I also love an assortment of white flowers with a touch of green and chocolate cosmos to break it up. xx

  26. StylishBird says:

ps Check out brown paper design for some floral ideas. She my bestie and a genius with flowers.

  27. The Zhush says:

I love Peonies too, and hydrangeas and roses and tulips….so many faves! I was married in late September (1993…eek!) and chose sunflowers and very unbridal yet harvesty looking flowers…including grapes! I still love my choices to this day…but I had only stacks and stacks of Bridal magazines as my guide (and stylish friends weddings too). Seems like every other day I see the most gorgeous wedding and bridal posts on blogs. Such amazing inspiration at your finger tips nowadays! I know for certain, that whatever you choose, whatever you do, it will be amazing! And inspiring to so many others! Have fun and good luck!

  28. Stevi says:

I love lilies and also lavender.

I’m sure you will pick something fabulous for your wedding. You have great taste. Then when I get married I will hire you to plan mine. :)

  29. Susan R. says:

pale pink peonies are so gorgeous and would make an amazing bouquet–another favorite of mine for weddings is the gardenia–i had lots of them in my bouquet and they smell like heaven :)

  30. Peonies, really! Also ranunculus, and big bunches of wild poppies.

  31. Haydee says:

I think this is one of my favorite spring posts! I adore pink peonies, so I’m partial to suggesting them. They’re so beautiful and happy aren’t they?!

  32. Stevi — Ohhh I want to help plan your future wedding!!!

Susan — Oh I LOOOOVE the scent of gardenias, how lovely!

Anna — I ADORE poppies, only I fear they’ll be gone by the time the wedding rolls around in late July…

    Haydee — SO happy : )

  33. Ooh, so pretty! I would say ranunculus but someone beat me too it! I have so many inspiration flower photos for my wedding, but I don’t know what kind of flowers they are! Thank goodness for florists!

  34. Andrea says:

I just checked out the SAIPUA website – the flowers are AMAZING! Perfect casual elegance.
My wedding bouquet was cream peonies and loved them.

  35. Katie Armour says:

Andrea — You would have lovely cream peonies! I can only imagine how lovely you must have looked carrying them! xoxo

  36. I have to say first of all the image of the woman with the flower is stunning.
As far as my favorite flower – has to be hydrangeas, but peonies are a close second.
