I have just begun the search for quick, affordable wedding invitations (we’re down to the wire here folks!) and these designs by Modern Ink are too much fun.  Everything is completely customizable from the colors to the wording to the fonts and the designs have cute names like Peyton, Madison, Isabella and Olivia.  I certainly don’t want our invitations to be “trendy,” but I think these walk a perfect line between modern and traditional.  What do you think?  What did your invitations look like—any tips?

  1. Kirby says:

I really like those. very clean and modern. I’m not sure what I am going to do, but everytime I see caligraphy I save it. so i’ll probably go with that for the type, as for the layout, I have no clue!

  2. Katie Armour says:

Ohh Kirby I loooove beautiful calligraphy! I so wish I could write it myself, perhaps someday I’ll take a class. That would be perfect for your invites! xo

  3. Kate Paradis says:

LOVE the first one – it’s so unique and modern!

  4. kbd says:

I’m going to do a shameless plug for the place where I work, vistaprint. We recently spent a lot of time adding some glorious new stuff to our wedding content… our prices are really good, and you can get your invites quickly. I would recommend the linen paper, I use it for all my invitations… that is, unless you’re going for bespoke invites but I thought I’d throw this out there.

Congrats again! I’m having so much fun watching you get your wedding together :)

  5. Katie Armour says:

KBD — Looking up visaprint now! xoxo

  6. These are fun! Our’s folded and had pockets to hold the RSVP cards, maps, etc. There was some Swarovski bling involved as well.

  7. Katie Armour says:

    Connie — A little bling, I like it : ) xo

  8. keely@luxeandlillies.blogspot.com says:

These are great! I LOVE the first one too!

  9. I like the second and the fourth ones the best. I think I would probably go with the second one, because although it has that graphic Hicks-esque pattern, the font is really traditional and beautiful. And simplicity is always important, and I think that one speaks the most by saying the least. Which font is called Olivia ?

  10. Katie Armour says:

The third design is the Olivia! Were you hoping it was the second? : )

Love your point about the Hicks-esque pattern paired with the traditional serif!

  11. I agree, modern but not trendy. I like I like! The last is my fave, I have to say. I would give you advice but our save the date/invitation situation is ridiculous and I cannot even think about it at the moment!

  12. Katie Armour says:

Bailey — Ridiculous? Uh oh! I’m sure everything will be just fine! xo

  13. Helena says:

I love that you can customise them and they are so simple and yet elegant! lovely choices!
can’t give actual advice as haven’t been married or are close to it. if I did a save the date I would love the first design though. For the actual invitation, love the second and last one.

  14. those are fab! love the bottom one.

  15. I love the third one – it’s feminine and seems to me fresh and classic at the same time. My friends that have gotten married recently have all stuck to very traditional ivory with ribbons type designs but I like these much better. Also, my boyfriend’s sister is getting married in June and her’s have stunning Indian block printing. I know whatever you pick will be classy & unique :)

  16. Meagan says:

I love the first and last design. One of my bff’s happens to be an awesome graphic designer, so I’ve recruited her for making all the paper stuff. We’re actually screen-printing on wood that my brother cut and sanded for us, so it’s 100% hand made from the people I love! I think we’re going to use a campy/woodsy type theme, our save-the-dates had redwoods and mountain animals on them, he he! These look great though! When is the wedding? June? I can’t remember…

  17. Lauren says:

I love the one with the purple loopdy loop. You could do it in one of you coral or blush tones.

  18. Stacie says:

The last one is my favorite, what a find!

  19. These are simple and pretty! And as a English major, i love a good name for an invite, it says so much!

I’m gonna follow KBD and plug my own company: Dapper Paper. We also have some cute stuff too if you haven’t decided yet ;)

  20. Katie Armour says:

So much great feedback! I love you ladies!!!

Elizabeth — Off to check out Dapper Paper now! I meant to last time you stopped by and it simply slipped my mind. Thanks for reminding me! xo

  21. Hi Katie-
They are all nice, I would go with the one that most appeals to you. When I got married I lived on the west coast and my family and wedding were on the east coast. My mom picked out the invites as there was no such thing as the internet back then to show me what she liked. They were ok, but I would have never chosen them.
Just choose the best for your taste and style.

  22. Brandi says:

If you find a trendier design that you like, you can use a more traditional font to find that perfect balance. And the last is my favorite…it’s blue. I’m such a sucker for blue.

  23. completely head over heels for the first one! your wedding will be the epitome of fun and chic :)
