A Coral Pout
June 28, 2010Love the casual, hip styling of the latest J.Crew Weddling Collection shots. I’ve been experimenting with a bright coral pout recently (Sephora’s jealous, a “peachy pink” bargain…) and while it’s fun, wearing lipstick definitely takes some getting used to! I tend to forget I have it on and leave bright coral pucker marks in my wake (Alfred’s forehead, John’s cheek…). Now that I’m comfortable with the idea I’m dying to splurge on a tube from Tom Ford’s new lipstick line. The “True Coral” is calling my name…
Do you wear lipstick? What brands/shades do you swear by?

Love this post! I just wrote about Grace Kelly’s coral lipstick a few weeks ago.
I’ve become a lipstick convert over the past year, and swear by the following:
~ Chanel Rouge Coco: a classic pinky rose perfect for the daytime
~ NARS Red Square: an orangey red lip pencil that is so much fun, and also a fave of Jenna Lyons and many o’ blogger
~ Illamasqua Red: a British line sold at Sephora that makes the most perfect classic red and looks good on everyone… I’ve been stopped on the street many times with this stuff
~ MAC Viva Glam 5: perfect nude lip and for a great cause!
After realizing how many shades I just wrote about, I think this might also be my next post!
Enjoy!

coral lips look dazzling in these photos. love!
my go to lip shades are endless, but i’ll do my best to narrow them down:
NARS manhunt – sheer poppy red
NARS orgasm lipgloss – pale pink
Chanel Rouge Hydrabase Creme Lipstick – Red N°5
Sephora Seduce – cool nude/pink -
oh my, this shoot is stunning! it makes me want to get married.. or at the very least, don some sort of tulle confection : )

I have really pink lips, so all lipstick is really magnified on me. So, I tend to play up my eyes with mascara (sometimes eyeshadow/liner) and Burt’s Bees chapstic on my lips.
I was going to do a cat-eye and red lipstick for my wedding day and I ended up doing the vintage cat-eye look but the red distracted from it, so I kept with my neutral lip.
I love the look of lipstick (on other people) but I tend to feel like a clown with it on! haha.

This is such a beautiful photo shoot. Love that lip!

Love lipstick, can’t live without it. I love going to Sephora and trying on all the colors. If I am feeling down, I always remember this saying – Slap on a little lipstick and you’ll be fine :)

I used to be a gloss only girl, but long hair perpetually sticking to my lips really drove me nuts. Especially in windy New England it happens all the time. So I’ve become a lipstick convert and have not looked back. I’ve been too scared to try a coral yet, but might take these suggestions and give it a go.
My current favorite shade is Revlon’s Pink Pout a sort of 60′s pale pink that looks really lovely with a more dramatic eye.
All time, goes with anything, always looks right shade is MAC Viva Glam 5, perfect pink nude. I wore it on my wedding day and it looked natural and gorgeous!

funny, I just tweeted about my top 5 summer essentials and one of my picks is Revlon Colorstay Mineral Lipglaze, the only long-wearing product I’ve tried that doesn’t dry out your lips and leave a freaky outline … instead lips are moist with a nice subtle shine. #540 Forever Raisin is my year-round go-to color. in the summer when I get a bit tan #545 Stay Ablaze adds a nice pop.

Those images are DREAMY! Aren’t you all just in love with the modern movement in photography: dreamy, imperfect, ethereal? I adore it! Those are YUMMY images.
On the lip tip… I’m a gloss girl. I love my real lip color and really just want shine. That said, many of the new lipsticks are sheer and very emollient. Makeup of any kid is good in my book!

So lovely pictures! And Siri looks so angelic, I really like her looks.
As for lipstick, I usually don’t wear any. When I do, I use Maybelline, and I’m pleased with it. Sometimes I put on a shine from Kryolan that is actually a redish coral, but I tend to eat that off in no more than a minute.

Dreamy. This post makes me want to run out and paint the town and my lips coral! However, after many failed attempts, I think I’ll keep this cool shade to my nails.
While I’ve always loved the look of lipstick on others, I never felt like I got it quite right myself…until the wonderful day I was given a stunning stick of Rouge G de Guerlain Jewel Lipstick in #64 Gemma. It’s the perfect sweet pink, with very muted plum undertones.
This shade is also served in the most darling silver lipstick compact. I was given mine with my new monogram and wedding date engraved on it – I wore it on my wedding day, so I’ll always remember the shade I wore! With a pat of powder over top, to give it a chic matte look, it finishes off every look. Kisses! xx

first of all, i love coral lip colour – gorgeous! and not too much, it’s subtle but really pretty.
second – this shoot is GORGEOUS!

I love Makeup For Ever’s Intense Red 506. It’s a classic red that’s just shy of matte, and it hasn’t failed me yet!
Those photos are absolutely ethereal. Ah, J.Crew…

I am lusting after these photos being a bride-to-be! Love the burst of color on the pout. Perfect for anytime. Thanks for visiting my blog. So happy to have found yours!

Lately ive been seeing a lot of peach and lilac lips on so many people that ive been dying to try them on me, but im so stuck on my comfortable nude/pinkish lip look that i just find it so hard to make a change. I think this post and all of its comments have given me confidence to try some these lovely colors on me, thats the least i can do after so many advices and references! Thanks!

Lately my favorites are:
Chris & Tell, Lancome
Funny Face, Nars
Red Sinner, Lipstick QueenI don’t wear lipstick often, but when I do, I like it to be a “statement” color. It’s so fun!

Love these photos! Anything remotely vintage inspired and I’m a fan.
Also, continue to embrace lipstick!
Chanel’s Rouge Coco lipstick line is very moisturizing and has quite a few ‘nude corals’ which are lovely. I wore #06 Egerie today! -
This is unreal. I can’t imagine being part of this photoshoot!
-
Katie my dear – you would look good in any colour of lipstick you choose, but please keep the top of your dress up (unlike model #1 – you would have to put your flowers down sometime) and definitely not the lace up shoes!!!!!lol
-
these are gorgeous!! i swear by chanel’s rouge allure in “discrete” and cle de peau’s 105 :)
-
I hardly wear lipstick and I would love too…
Love the collection stunning! -
My absolute favourite lipstick is Chanel’s ‘English Rose’- it truly smells like its name! However, it has been discontinued so I spend too much time ravaging department store counters attempting to find one last stick…

Lipstick is something I always hated but then fell in love with over this last year (thanks to blogging!). I definitely like the way I look in the perfect shade of red, and I wear hot pink and coral at times too. I’m embracing it. At the wedding, I’m transitioning my makeup from day to night -night being thick black cat liner and red lipstick since my dress is vintage-esque. So fun! I bet you look fab in it!
-
I know what you mean! I have a ‘lipstain’ from cover girl that I LOVE. drew barrymore wears it in an add. I can’t remember the name off hand but it’s a pink and i’m not big into wearing lipgloss or anything like that. but i love it. people notice me when i wear it.
xx Kirby

Love, love, LOVE! Coral is such a pretty shade.

I have liked MAC’s Tinted Lip Conditioner in the past. I am not a lipstick girl even though I always give it a try every now and then. This Lip Conditioner is no frills and it has SPF 15. I am definitely purchasing Gentle Coral before the summer is over. Thank you for the constant inspiration!

Katie–
As a makeup artist, Tom Ford’s new line is my new obsession! The textures and colors are DIVINE! If you’re not used to lipstick or COLOR on your lips, True Coral is not for the faint of heart… The pigments are really rich and there is nothing sheer about them. I have purchased Blush Nude, Pink Dusk and Moroccan Rouge so far. Love them all!Dolce and Gabbana and Yves Saint Laurent are my other two favorite lines for lipstick. “Soiree” from D&G is pretty similar the photos above and very wearable! Pat McGrath developed the line, she is a genius.
Have fun!

Divine!

Anything by Nars in their Matte collection is fabulous…especially for your wedding day :) I recently took the leap and bought Nars Schiap (very hot pink) It’s a little shocking, but I love it with a soft creamy eye and a sundress.
-
oh so beautiful! Makes me want to get married all over again…to the same man ofcourse ;)

i wish jcrew would get a little more petite-friendly [only online!? seriously?] because it seems they can do no wrong!

I occasionally wear a blush color, not too red, not too pink. I think I’ve been wearing the same color since the first day I ever wore lipstick. I just can’t seem to change! I’m loving the coral though! I looks so sweet without sacrificing the natural look!
