Mother of the Bride

My mother is my opposite.  She doesn’t care much for clothes or make-up or shopping.  She has been blessed with a gorgeous, youthful appearance and pays it little attention.  I took her shopping last week for something to wear to my wedding ceremony and we found her a darling tailored linen dress from J.Crew with a matching jacket.  It’s very classic and appropriate for our garden ceremony, but could use a little sparkle.  I’m in charge of that (she runs her own company and would rather leave these things to me) and am thinking we need the blush pink flower at top.  It would add a hint of color and detail without overwhelming.  I love you mom, you’re going to be a beautiful Mother of the Bride.

What a lovely post. It sounds like you and your mom are a lot like me and mine; I taught my mom how to pluck her eyebrows! But her disinterest in beauty gives her time to design the most charming children’s dance costumes!

Lena — Too funny! I think our mothers have much in common. My mother’s beauty regime consists of one thing, sunscreen! xx

Frances — Ying and yang is right! I think the blush shade will look lovely too!

How gorgeous! It’s so funny because the older I get, the more I see that my mother and I have in common. Years ago, that might’ve bugged me, but now I love it.

That would look great on Erin! Lovely idea!

There’s a trend here–my mom is such a tomboy! Funny how that works out. When I got married, my mom was like, “Do I really have to wear a dress?!” :] She cleans up well, though, and looked absolutely stunning on my wedding day. I’m sure yours will too!!

My mom was much more glamorous when she was my age, but seems to care less about that now. Maybe it happens with age. But I can’t agree more about the flower pin. I add mine to my navy blue J.Crew dress whenever I want some extra flair and did so for my sister’s rehearsal dinner.

Jen — Too funny! My mom doesn’t mind dresses, but she always needs me (or my stylish grandmother) to pick them out. She just wears what she’s told and looks like a million bucks. Cheers to our fantastic mothers! xx

  11. My mother is the same way! Where did we come from? In my case I think my style obsession was inherited from my paternal grandmother.

So pretty! It’ll be a nice little piece to remind her of the day too :)
