Our Vows…

Morning loves! Now that the photos from our July wedding have had their big reveal, I thought it might be fun to share the vows we wrote. I hesitated for a quick second (I realize this is a rather public setting…), but because you are more friends than readers I’ve decided to go ahead with it! We wrote them together a week before the wedding and it was one of the most exciting things things we’ve ever done. John began by reading the first line and then we alternated line by line until the finish (by then there were serious waterworks!). Here they are : )

to be your best friend
to always share my dessert
to be the Emma to your Mr. Knightly
to read aloud to you
to lead a charmed life
to write you love letters
to take spontaneous road trips
to do most of the driving
to keep the NPR podcasts rolling
to always provide you with more trivia than you need
to indulge your geeky side
to always believe your current haircut is the best you’ve ever had
to laugh at your jokes
to buy you lots of pugs
to be patient
to build you a home
to consult you before painting the walls pink
to never stop learning
to dream big dreams
to always be awed by your pioneering spirit
to not overshadow you with my fame [everyone laughed!]
to be your biggest fan
to wake you every morning
to kiss you every night
to learn to cook the basics
to ask about your day
to remember where I left my keys and phone
to hold your hand
to be open-minded
to admit when I’m wrong
to cherish you for always
to never give up
to never, ever give up
to work every day toward being the man you deserve
to work every day toward being the woman you deserve
Do you vow to be my wife?
I do. Do you vow to me my husband?

My favorite part is… “to wake you in the morning… to kiss you goodnight” I feel like that is how my relationship is. He is the early bird and I am the night owl.
One of my guilty pleasures is to listen to love songs and day dream of them playing at my wedding while I dance with my prince charming. My favorites range from Frank Sinatra to David Gray.
Out of curiosity, what song did you and your husband dance to for your first dance?

I’m all teary-eyed! Your wedding looks so beautiful, congrats! I LOVE your vows. So perfect! We used some traditional vows and some old Celtic vows. We were married in a garden at Mohonk Mountain House in upstate NY.

Gorgeous! We wrote our vows too (well, I wrote them!) and it meant so much more, expressing how we felt via our own words. Your day looked perfect!

Saw your wedding photos on Once Wed- beautiful! That’s my dream wedding; in a garden with a pug ring bearer. :) I’ll probably have to start training Cinnamon now because otherwise he’ll just jump all over the guests..
also, “to buy you lots of pugs” is an awesome vow!
