Short Bright Nails + Belt Help!

I just love the model’s short bright nails in these new shots for The J.Crew Collection.  I’m inspired to do something similar before I fly out to New York tonight.  Fun fact: I almost always do my nails myself.  No time for manicures these days, le sigh.

P.S. My dress for Matchbook’s launch party on Wednesday begs for a belt of some sort, any suggestions?  A little sparkle could work or I could even go the punk chic route and wear something with studs…?  It needs to be high-waisted.  A girl must look chic for co-hosts John Derian, Rita KonigLela Rose and Coach (ahhhhh!).  Where should I look???

  1. So excited to meet you!
Coming into the city tomorrow for a little work, but really the trip is for Matchbook! YAY!
Dress details, please! Do you have a pic? Are all you girls going the dress route for the big night?
    Something like this, perhaps?

You could try Calypso, Scoop, Intermix, Anthro… or a street vendor in Soho once there.

  4. Chedva says:

I love this style, mainly because I can never maintain long nails.
As for belts, I really like thin, colorful ones.

  5. Katie Armour says:

Sarah — That is gorgeous!!! The dress is black though…I want it, in black! SO excited to meet you at long last! xoxoxo

PVE — You are too kind to have such faith in me! I am going to dig up my favorite canary yellow Hermes scarf—it may do the trick. You’re brilliant!

Wishful Nals — I wish I had time to hit up some thrift shops, we’ll see… xoxo

Chedva – Skinny colorful belts are the best, aren’t they? xo

  8. Christina says:

I love shorter nails too! Esp in that color. Forever 21 always has good belts and I know places like the Limited and Express have belts in fun colors. I have been a fan of neon belts as of late inspired by the Burberry runway.

  9. Lindsay says:

I was going to suggest the same as PVE. Dig out that yellow Hermes! Can’t wait to see you soon. Fingers crossed the weather holds out! xo

  10. Club Monaco always has great belts here in the city. Try the one on Columbus or right off 5th Ave.

  12. How pretty! What about a slim little leopard belt? Or a little pop of yellow or pink. All my favorite belts are from Jcrew, they always have something fun. Have a wondeful, fabulous exciting trip! Wish I was heading to New York!
    Good luck!

I love taking the vintage route with belts, but while on the subject, J.Crew does have some swoon-worthy (and convenient) options. Often on sale too!

  14. I have this belt and it is fabulous. They have it in Black glitter and silver glitter.

  16. JenLynn says:

Personally I like the Rhinestone Encrusted Sash from J.Crew (which might be easy to find in NYC upon arrival). Belts/sashes are in right now and it should jazz up a LBD. Belt here:

  18. I’m a fan of short manicured digits…they look especially “cute” with bright colors. We have a fabulous burnt orange “Stone Crabby” that you might love!

I also heart JCrew and any of their ultra thin belts.

Good luck at the party and I’m sure whatever you decide to wear, you will look fabulous in!

  19. Kirby says:

I’ve always worn my nails short. and I just bought a nude nail polish that I LOVE!

I’m not to up on the belt trends. but I do hope you find one in time for your party!

I was so excited to see Lela Rose in your premier issue. She is a doll and I agree, her homemade treats are always amazing!
