Sonia by Sonia Rykiel

This morning while drifting about the pages of Net-A-Porter I found my soulmate, Sonia Rykiel. I’ve long admired her collections, but the latest batch for the Sonia by Sonia Rykiel line is positively d-i-v-i-n-e.  Full of polka dots, bows, and stripes it’s bound to capture any neo-trad’s heart, wouldn’t you agree?

Latest Lonny Love

It’s been such a crazy week, I didn’t get to sit down and properly read Lonny’s new issue until today! What an issue it was! I’m now fixated on monogrammed euro shams and Ellie’s chicly striped walls. Who’s with me?

Lisa Wiseman on The Beholder

If you read The Daily Spark you’ve already heard me gush about The Beholder, a beautifully curated contemporary art site. I love it so much I’ve decided to give another photographer, in this case Lisa Wiseman, a shout out here. I appreciate how her images are both strikingly yet soft — feminine in the prettiest of light. To me, “MeiLing” at top embodies how I imagine the adventurous Matchbook girl…

Ballet Brights

Is anyone else lusting after the bright ballet flats J.Crew released this season? I love my black J.Crew ballets (buy at least half a size down — they stretch!) and now I think I may have to add african violet, festival green, sour lemon, and poppy to the mix!  I used to live in a pair of red London Sole flats, but they eventually had to be laid to rest. Time to replace my beloved ruby slippers!

Vintage Family Photos

My mom and I had to dig through a bunch of vintage family photos for Matchbook’s Mother’s Day gift roundup and these were some of the treasures. At top, my mom as a little girl. Middle, my mom vacationing in Mexico, long before she kicked her smoking habit (she’s going to kill me, but how cool are  those Bertoia chairs?). At bottom, my parents on their wedding day in Los Angeles. They were married for 19 years before they got divorced and still remain good friends today. Actually, my mom and her boyfriend hang out with my dad and his girlfriend often. My husband jokes it’s because we’re all “friendly California hippies” (he’s from New England…). Whatever we are, I love it.
