Atlanta Tips?

I’m so pleased to share that I’m headed to Atlanta next month to speak on a panel about new media and design hosted by Traditional Home. I am a huge fan of their publisher, Beth Brenner (she’s a Neo-Trad like us and just so kind and forward thinking when it comes to business!), and I am absolutely tickled to have been asked. I’ve heard so many wonderful things about Atlanta over the years and am terribly excited about my first visit! I know you are a savvy bunch of ladies so I thought I’d ask — any tips or suggestions for my trip? I’m already planning to visit Pieces and am eager to explore the areas of Virigina Highlands and Buckhead. I’ve always joked about moving to Atlanta (I was looking up real estate there last night…I’m a bit silly like that…) so I really want to get a feel for the city!

Oh and the panel is going to be late afternoon on Friday July 15th at the gigantic gift show hosted by AmericasMart. I will be sure to post details closer to the date — I so hope you can make it! I would LOVE to meet some Neo-Trads/Matchbook Girls :) xoxo Katie

Like father, like son…

How handsome are the men in my life? That’s my husband wearing a dapper coral tie that belonged to my grandfather and one of our pugs, Wallace. Old Wally recently weighed in at a whopping 29 pounds?! Somebody needs to go on a doggy diet :)

Breakfast Gone Awry

This made me smile. Thanks for sharing, Lindsay.

P.S. Is it just me or do those pancakes look heavenly?

Vintage Family Photos

My mom and I had to dig through a bunch of vintage family photos for Matchbook’s Mother’s Day gift roundup and these were some of the treasures. At top, my mom as a little girl. Middle, my mom vacationing in Mexico, long before she kicked her smoking habit (she’s going to kill me, but how cool are  those Bertoia chairs?). At bottom, my parents on their wedding day in Los Angeles. They were married for 19 years before they got divorced and still remain good friends today. Actually, my mom and her boyfriend hang out with my dad and his girlfriend often. My husband jokes it’s because we’re all “friendly California hippies” (he’s from New England…). Whatever we are, I love it.

APT with LSD

I love the home tours by Lauren Santa Domingo on Vogue.com and the latest of model Elettra Wiedemann’s West Village apartment does not disappoint.  The rich hues of the living room are fantastic (love the brass lamps!) and I appreciate how everything is styled beautifully, yet casually.
