I Met Kelly Wearstler!

Last night I had the honor of meeting decorator extraordinaire Kelly Wearstler at her Gumps San Francisco book signing.  She greeted me with “Well you look cute!” and as you might imagine, I just about died.  Best of all, Ms. Wearstler was refreshingly down to earth and kind.  She looked ultra chic in a gorgeous pair of black ankle boots and beautiful bangles stacked up her arm, but there wasn’t a trace of diva to be found.  She also signed my limited edition copy of Hue which I will treasure for always.  Thank you to Kelly and to Gumps—it was a dream come true!

Hamish Bowles by Caitlin McGauley

It’s no secret that I am obsessed with the work of watercolor artist Caitlin McGauley, but this recent painting of Vogue European Editor at Large Hamish Bowles in his pink apartment is my all time favorite piece!  It was recently posted on the awesome Lonny Blog and I am absolutely, positively in love.  One of my favorite people in one of my favorite apartments by one of my favorite artists—it’s all too much!

P.S. You can find photographs of Mr. Bowles’ New York apartment here!

Packing Tape Art

This series of gigantic chairs created with masking tape on plexi glass by artist Mark Khaisman absolutely blow me away.  Mr. Armour loves them too and we’ve decided that “someday” we are going to track one down and buy it for our home.  Fingers crossed…

La Plates Giveaway

I am SO very excited to announce that this week I’ll be giving away a set of SIX beautiful plates from my sponsor, La Plates.  I have been smitten with the company’s designs ever since they graced the pages of House Beautiful last June and just know you will L-O-V-E their products as well.  While the giveaway is for plates, keep in mind they also make everything from chic cocktail napkins to serving platters and even tote bags—perfect for holiday gifts!  They are also having a special “buy 5 get 1 free” promotion running now through November 29th that I plan to take advantage of.  You simply order 5 plates of the same design and they’ll throw in a 6th for free, no coupon needed.

Back to today’s contest—to enter please visit La Plates and choose which design, colors, font and personalization you would like (all six plates will be identical) and then tell me  your pick in the comments below.  I will choose one lucky winner tomorrow afternoon at 5:00 Eastern Time.  Bonne chance!

UPDATE: Congratulations to my winner, Joan!  I emailed you : )

Luxe Lampshades

I scored some fantastic pineapple table lamps (they were an ugly brown and I painted them a pretty light blue) at a thrift store last week and am on the hunt for the perfect lampshades. Shades of Light has some of the most fun options, but they’re definitely a splurge.  I’m  now considering buying simple parchment shades and covering them with the same fabric as my curtains (yet to be ordered, but they will be fabulous…).  Have you ever done a do-it-yourself lampshade project?
