This room by Albert Hadley (the legendary decorator’s own sitting room published at bottom by Elle Decor…) is my all-time favorite. I just adore the bold blue canvas, the wallpaper, the vignette on the table and well, all of it. Imagine my excitement then when I spotted the never before seen (by me at least!) image at top in T Magazine this week. It is being featured in ‘The Finest Rooms‘ by Thomas Jayne published by Monacelli Press. To think, after all these years, another little glimpse of my favorite room! Do you see how it’s changed? The love affair continues…

The fantastic new Lonny blog recently featured this lovely Caitlin McGauley watercolor of Aerin Lauder’s orange East Hampton living room and I just about died. It has long been one of my favorite rooms since being published in 2007 in House & Garden (and later, Elle Decor). Don’t you just love the Hermes orange walls and leopard couch? Life doesn’t get any more fabulous!

How fantastic are these shots by Traditional Home of Michelle Smith’s design studio? I am a huge Milly fan (suprise, suprise) and the very sight of the colorful fabrics makes my heart sing. Do you remember Michelle’s apartment on the cover of Elle Decor? It’s one of my all-time favorites and happens to have been decorated by my aunt, Shaun Jackson (yup, she’s pretty much the coolest aunt a gal could ask for). Oh to have such style!

Honestly, who doesn’t love her? I so enjoyed reading about the “12 Things She Can’t Live Without” in this month’s Elle Decor. Sequins and sailor stripes, yes please!

I’m in the process of moving into a new apartment and have been drooling over these images of Darryl Carter’s D.C. townhouse as inspiration. While I love color and even a tad of clutter, something about his clean, neutral aesthetic really appeals to me these days. I love that the pieces in Carter’s rooms don’t compete with one another, but simply contain an understated elegance that when combined make for a grand statement. His array of rich natural materials has such a lovely organic feel and inject the bright white rooms with such warmth. My favorite room of the Beaux Arts townhouse is the bathroom with a pair of bathtubs salvaged from the Russian embassy—I guess there are perks to living on Embassy Row!
