Full of Grace

Love stumbling upon new images of the stunningly beautiful Grace Kelly.  These two shots are by Mark Shaw.  I have a book of his photographs of the Kennedy family that I found in a thrift shop some time ago—adore his work!

Oleg Cassini The Wedding Dress

In January 2011 Rizzoli is publishing a fabulous new book by Oleg Cassini titled The Wedding Dress and I can’t wait to get my hands on a copy!  The designer famous for the iconic wardrobe of Jackie Kennedy (I highly recommend his One Thousand Days of Magic) writes about his experience dressing some of the most stylish women in history and in particular, his love affair with the wedding dress.  I especially adore these candid photos from inside The Wedding Dress of Oleg and his former fiance, Grace Kelly.  Did you know they were engaged prior to her marriage to Prince Ranier of Monaco?  They made quite the handsome couple!  January can’t come soon enough…

Grace Kelly Packs Her Bags

I love the candidness of these photos snapped in 1956 of  a young Grace Kelly packing for her move to Monaco.  Can you even imagine the excitement and anxiety she must have felt about the international move and her upcoming royal marriage?  The entire year must have been a bit surreal…oh to be a princess!

A Portrait of Grace

Love these photos of Grace Kelly snapped in March 1954, one month before she wed Prince Ranier III and became Her Serene Highness the Princess of Monaco.  Isn’t the shape of her gown absolute perfection?

These enchanting photos of Grace Kelly the night she won her 1954 Oscar were simply too charming to keep to myself!  The intimate glimpses of the star rehearsing her acceptance speech in the car and later with a sailor eager for an autograph reveal such a sense of nervousness and excitement.  Kelly was a mere 25-years-old at the time and won for her starring role in ‘The Country Girl.’  She wore an ice-blue dress by costume designer Edith Head and beat out the likes of Judy Garland and Audrey Hepburn that year for the Best Actress Award.
