The new Madison Avenue J.Crew Mens Shop is already open, but these pictures of the previous “under construction” windows still make me laugh out loud. What a clever idea to make people smile while things were getting spruced up inside. Can’t help but wonder if Andy Spade had a hand in it…
The newly redone Partners & Spade website has an impressive archive of old Kate Spade advertisements. The top two are from the campaign shot by Tierney Gearon and the last three were shot by Larry Sultan (my personal favorites)! As much as I LOVE Kate Spade today, I do miss the sophisticated, intelligent edge the brand had when the Spades were still involved. It always had such a cool, editorial vibe to it. Needless to say, I’ll always be a fan.
I just came across this Designing Minds segment with Andy Spade and find him horribly cool. All the footage of Partners & Spade made my heart ache. My friend Jane (I’m telling you this girl is totally in the know…) told me about it and John and I fell in love with the space the moment we walked in the door on Great Jones Street. John said it was his favorite shop/gallery of all the places I dragged him to over the last year in Manhattan. I just stopped by their webpage to find the image below. What a crack up! If you’re in New York, be sure to pay them a visit…after labor day of course.
