You may or may not know that I love and adore the National Public Radio program This American Life. Mr. Armour and I always listen to hours of their podcasts on road trips and the host, Ira Glass, is a favorite. This “Mrs. Ira Glass” tote bag made me laugh out loud and the greeting card is pretty clever too. Any fellow NPR fans reading?

John and I leave for Maine Monday morning and I’m ecstatic! I’m pulling out my winter scarves and packing the new glittens I snatched up at J.Crew last week. We’re filling our iPods with NPR podcasts (hours of This American Life archives—yippee!). John’s parents live practically on the Canadian border so we’ll be breaking up the trip north by staying at charming, little bed + breakfasts on the way there and back. I’m particularly excited for the historic Waldo Emerson Inn in Kennebunk. Ralph Waldo Emerson’s great-uncle once inhabited the home (the oldest in town) and there’s a quilt shop in the carriage house. I’m also eager to explore more of Portland. My fascination with the city began when I stumbled across the Flickr account of artist/creative director Maria Alexandra Vettese. Above and below, some of my favorite MAV images—talk about having an eye! I’ll be posting more about MAV’s artistic endeavors this weekend… Such an inspiration! XX Kate
